How do I join as a volunteer?
You can already apply to become a volunteer. Interviews with applicants will be conducted on an ongoing basis, and volunteers will be selected continuously—so don’t wait too long 🙂
Volunteers must complete the Red Cross volunteer agreement, which includes confidentiality and duty to report, a commitment to work in accordance with the purpose and the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross, as well as insurance coverage for the volunteer. Volunteers must also give consent for a child protection certificate to be obtained.
Note: To participate as a volunteer, you must be present for the entire camp and attend the preparation meetings in weeks 22 and 24.
Cleaning volunteers are exempt from attending preparation meetings and being present during the camp. However, it is possible to both volunteer at the camp and help with cleaning—in that case, participation in the camp and preparation meetings applies.

Who can join the summer camp?
The summer camp is intended for children who, for various reasons, need to attend a fun, safe, and inclusive camp. This may be due to financial, social, family-related, psychological, physical, or other reasons. For example, it may be children who are not really thriving at school or who have recently moved to the Faroe Islands and find it difficult to make new friends. It may also be children whose parents do not have the financial or social resources to provide meaningful and enriching experiences during the long summer holiday, for instance due to health challenges in the family, siblings with special needs, limited networks, or restricted financial means.
The circumstances of children and their families vary, and there is room for that at the Red Cross summer camp.
However, these are not requirements for participation. If there are still available spots as the camp start approaches, it will be possible for anyone to apply for a place for their child to attend the camp.
Apply for the summer camp
If you wish to register a child (or more), you can submit an application by filling out the form below.
All applications are individually assessed by the camp management, and there may be circumstances where the conditions at the camp are not sufficient in relation to the child’s needs. The following basic requirements apply:
- Children must have turned 9 years old and not yet turned 13 before the start of the camp.
- The child must be able to participate without one-to-one support.
Please note that even if you apply for a place, it is not guaranteed until the applicant and the parents/guardian receive confirmation.
If the camp becomes fully booked, we reserve the right to select the children we assess as having the greatest need to participate. In addition, we aim for a balanced distribution of age and gender at the camp.
